Course Description
Step behind the camera and discover the art of filmmaking. This course introduces you to the director’s craft and the collaborative world of film production. You will learn how vision, planning, and teamwork bring stories to life, exploring every stage of the process: from script to screen. Through hands-on exercises and guided practice, you will begin shaping scenes, directing actors, and understanding the language of cinema.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the director’s role across pre-production, production, and post-production.
- Read and analyze scripts while collaborating with writers on development.
- Select actors and guide them through rehearsals.
- Direct performances with clarity and intention.
- Choose locations and coordinate with departments such as camera, art, and costume.
- Work with producers to plan budgets and schedules.
- Oversee the creative direction of a project while maintaining set professionalism.
- Collaborate with editors and composers to shape the final cut.
- Develop awareness of industry standards, technical skills, and new trends in filmmaking.
