Our Story


FAPA (Fine Art Photography Academy) is a prominent and respected entity in the world of photography education, welcoming individuals at all levels of proficiency.

Launched in Lebanon in February 2016, FAPA's journey has been characterized by resilience and growth. Despite facing challenging times, including the 17th of October revolution, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the devastating Beirut port explosion on August 4th, 2020, the academy persevered. Courses were adjusted, rigorously tested, and eventually made available online, providing access for both local and international students. Overcoming economic instability, inflation, and logistical hurdles, FAPA resumed in-person instruction. Today, the academy boasts over 100 monthly registrations, offering more than 30 courses, and employing 18 part-time instructors.

Situated in the vibrant heart of Lebanon, in Zalka, Maten, FAPA's strategic location provides accessibility for students from all corners of the country. This diverse community thrives on inclusivity, attracting students from various backgrounds, ages, and regions. The academy offers a plethora of options including workshops, short courses, and officially certified long-term training, delivered by dedicated instructors. The flexible schedule, featuring both morning and evening sessions, accommodates diverse learning needs.

FAPA's offerings encompass a diverse range of options, from single courses and workshops to officially certified training programs. Additionally, the academy provides personalized, private training and workshops tailored to individual needs. In-house facilities offer spaces and photography equipment for student use or rental. This comprehensive array of services ensures that FAPA caters to a broad spectrum of photography enthusiasts, cementing its status as a leading institution in the field.

Ms. Tanya Atallah, the visionary founder and owner of FAPA, is dedicated to expanding art education beyond traditional boundaries. Her goal is to elevate photography to an art form and make it accessible to a global audience. With over 25 years of teaching experience, FAPA's founder, Ms. Atallah, has established a significant network in the field. Tanya's educational journey began in 1998 during her college years and has since inspired students at institutions like AUST, AUB. She holds a Master's degree in photography from USEK (2001) and a Master's in Arts and Sciences of Arts from UL (2015).

FAPA's mission is to modernize photography education for the digital age, providing professional and officially recognized instruction. The academy aims to nurture future instructors to carry forward its mission. By striving for excellence, FAPA aims to lead in the field of photography education. Their ultimate goal is to make photography education accessible to all and create opportunities for employment in a visually-driven world. Through this, FAPA seeks to promote visual literacy, transforming images into a universal language.
